It’s been a long time since I posted an actual blog. I’ve been busy with Carmel-Ann getting our book, Being Well Within: From Distressed to De-Stressed finalized. We are planning for the book to be “live” by the beginning of December. Please stay tuned for updates about our official launch. It’s very exciting, and we know that the book will prove to be enormously helpful for anyone who experiences stress in their lives… (can you relate?)
In the meantime, the following quote was sent to me in an e-mail, and it inspired me to get back to writing and sharing what I hope will be meaningful and helpful messages.
“If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself. If you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own transformation.” ~ Lao Tzu
Lao Tzu gives us a tall order… Even if you haven’t been thinking about “awakening all of humanity”, so many of us focus on improving or transforming our own lives and/or the lives of the people we love and care about. How do we awaken ourselves? How do we eliminate the darkness from within that hinders our growth and feelings of well-being? Let’s start with one simple step… Take a deep breath. I cannot stress enough the importance of breathing… We devote an entire chapter in our book to this subject because it really is that important and in fact, that life-changing. Even as you’re reading this now, take a slow deep breath… let your shoulders, neck and abdomen relax. Allow yourself to feel the shift within you. This is the start of waking up; to be aware of your body, and your feelings- the physical and emotional feelings within you. Because of stress in our lives, too often we walk through our days in a semi-conscious state. We go through our routines, our responsibilities and obligations – maybe even our joys without necessarily really experiencing ourselves at all. Then, you may wonder why, at the end of the day you feel empty, drained and exhausted.
Today, start paying attention to your breathing. Slow down for just a few seconds and really breathe ( inhale slowly through your nose, and exhale gently with a sigh through your mouth). Do this a few times each day, and increase the frequency of deep breaths as each day passes. It is transformational! Transformations happen slowly over time, so we must start somewhere. Today, start with a slow, deep breath. Feel yourself wake up to a new awareness of yourself. Please remember… NO JUDGMENTS… just simple awareness and acknowledgement of what you feel. Stop! Breathe! Focus!… transformations from within start here…
Now that I’m writing again, visit again, for some simple strategies to eliminate all that is dark and negative… but like I said, let’s start with a simple step… I look forward to hearing your thoughts, comments and questions… Wishing you all the best, always, Loren
